Electronic Stability Program[1] (ESP) is designed to assist drivers in maintaining control of their vehicle during extreme steering maneuvers. ESP senses when a vehicle is starting to spin (oversteer) or plow (understeer), and attempts to correct the vehicle's course by automatically controlling the throttle and applying the brakes at individual wheels. The control you'll feel is astonishing.

An important aspect of ESP, Caliber's traction control system is tuned for on-road activity during normal operation. When wheel spin occurs, the system maintains traction by applying the brakes and in some cases closing the throttle, to minimize spin during acceleration.

Large available four-wheel disc antilock brakes are designed to help provide added traction in slippery braking conditions. And independent front suspension coupled with power rack-and-pinion steering helps Caliber stick to the road.

     

    And when Caliber SRT4® takes the road, its premium braking-system components make stopping on a dime seem like child's play. Vented front discs measure in at 340mm, with 302mm in the rear; and four-wheel Antilock Brakes (ABS), with brake assist, provide added traction in extreme braking situations. Plus, the calipers are painted a sporty red, so they look just as good as they perform.  
     
    And when it comes to handling, Caliber SRT4® sits on high-performance MacPherson front-suspension struts and a performance-tuned multilink suspension in the rear.
